Academic Background
2013 – 2015 Erasmus Mundus Master PERCCOM (PERvasive Computing & COMmunication for Sustainable Development.)
SEMESTER 4 - Skelleftea Campus, SWEDEN
Master Thesis : "CloudSimDisk: Energy-Aware Storage Simulation in CloudSim", by Baptiste Louis. Following discussions with Facebook, Fortlax, and researchers from all around the world, I identified a need regarding Energy Efficient Data Storage Systems, i.e. looking at the energy consumed to store a certain amount of data in a defined storage system configuration. A first literature review demonstrates the interest to work with modelling and simulation tools for Cloud Computing environment. Hence, the objective of this thesis work has been to fill the gap in energy aware storage simulation with the widely used CloudSim simulator. As a result, we proposed CloudSimDisk (read more in the projects section). Areas of research include, but not limited to: Data Growth, Greenhouse gaz challenges, Cloud Computing, Cloud simulator, Software Engineering, HDD/SSD/SSHD technologies, DAS/NAS/SAN topologies, Hot Data and Cold Data, Datacenter Cooling System, Open Compute Project. |
SEMESTER 3 - Lulea University of Technology (LTU), SWEDEN
Master Degree in Pervasive Computing and Computers for sustainable development The objective is to teach students fundamentals and advanced issues of mobile networks, mobile and distributed systems, energy efficient sensor networks, pervasive computing and mobile software and services (Network programming and distributed applications, Advances Wireless Networks Communication, Multimedia Systems, Web development, Multi-agents Systems). The students learn how to apply acquired knowledge to various application domains focusing on sustainable development. Further, as Erasmus Mundus Student, we had the unique chance to visit the Facebook Datacentre, situated at only 500 meters from LTU campus. As well, one research team of Ericsson is based on the campus, which has been a great opportunity to exchange with them about telecommunications, networks and pervasive computing. |
SEMESTER 2 - Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), FINLAND
Master Degree in Science in Technology The objective is to educate students in software engineering, service engineering and cloud computing aspects that may result in the sustainable solutions (Service Oriented Architecture, Software Architecture, Sustainable society models, Green IT). Sustainable software and services address challenges for building resource efficient software solutions for various application areas. Additionally, the program includes lectures about Enterprise Architecture, the organizing logic for business process and IT capabilities reflecting the integration and standardization requirements of the firm’s operating model. In other words, the student acquire specific knowledge for aligning IT and business strategy, and for driving business value from IT. This semester ends with a two weeks seminar at Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The lectures cover an introduction to Linux/Unix in info-com, as well as advanced discussions about Internet of Things, Pervasive Computing, and Clouds, Grid and Cluster systems. |
SEMESTER 1 - University of Lorraine (UL), FRANCE
Master Degree in Complex Systems Engineering The objective is to provide students with fundamental competences in computer networks (OSI model, network architecture, network simulation, Quality of Sustainable Service, Automatic Control for Sustainable Development) and systems engineering in a sustainable way. Model-Based Systems-Engineering (MBSE) is presented as a key iterative, collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to define, to develop and to deploy systems in general. MBSE is then applied to ICT domain in order to enhance a better interoperation between system components, humans as well as technologies, and then to contribute to meet eco-efficiency for C2C (Consumer to Consumer) issues beyond conventional Business and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) efficiency. Further, 3 ECTS credits are reserved for a selection of specific courses (Circular economy, Environmental law, Knowledge Management, Internet of Things, green ICT) provided by partners during daily or weekly seminars. |
2012 – 2013 Bachelor of Science - Nancy, FRANCE
Bachelor Degree in Engineering Sciences
This bachelor program trains students to sciences and technologies needed for the analysis, design and conduct of modern complex systems in the domains of Electronics, Electrical Energy, Automatic, Industrial Engineering and Computing Networks (Computer-Aided Design, metrology, network simulation, wireless communication, local industrial network, algorithmic programming, ...). The graduate of this license has a broad cross-technological profile that allows him to adapt with emerging technologies, and to exercise various types of responsibilities in many high tech areas. Further, all along the year, the student develops specific competences such as team work, time management, critical thinking, and self assessment, as well as good listening capacity, good sense of synthesis, and ease for public presentations. |
2010 – 2012 BTEC Higher National Diploma - Nancy, FRANCE
Technical University Diploma in Networks & Telecommunications
This technical diploma provides skills in computer networks (OSI model, routing protocols, programming, ...) and telecommunication (signals analyses, electrical circuit, ...) to install, configure and maintain the hardware of an entire network, both for a company (ISP, bank, SMEs, ...) or a public institution (hospital, governmental institutions, territorial agency, ...). To be ready for the world of work, the studies also includes practical works, oral communication trainings, cultural discussions, English courses and financial report analyses. At the same time, advanced mathematics and physics are part of the fourth semester in order to bring the required competences for a bachelor degree. |
